Goan Fish Curry and rice is synonymous with Goa. It is part of the daily meal and very popular dish with the locals and international tourist. It is a rich coconut based spicy curry with a tang/sour undertone of tamarind. Goan Curry Masala does the guess work for you. Just mix the spice mix with coconut cream/ milk add tamarind, garlic, curry leaf, salt and fish or seafood of your choice and voila you have your famous Goan Fish Curry.

Fish or Shrimp Curry Recipe:
  • 1 can of coconut milk
  • 1 can of water
  • 3 tbsp of goan curry masala
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 1 ball dime sized tamarind
  • 3 tbsp of frozen grated coconut
  • 8-10 curry leaves
  • fish or 10 cleaned shrimps
  • salt to taste

  • In a blender grind grated coconut, garlic cloves and tamarind till a smooth paste.
  • In a pot pour the ground mixture, coconut milk, goan fish curry powder, water and boil the mixture on low medium heat for 20-25 minutes.
  • Next add the fish or prawns/ shrimps, curry leaves add salt to taste and boil till fish is cooked about 8-10 minutes.

For a Vegetarian or Vegan Options:
  • Add Brussels Sprouts, Okra / Lady fingers, baby corn or cubed firm tofu.

Serve with hot rice.
